Approved Mar 8, 2019

What to Expect

Aglianico from FABULAE offers a powerful southern Italian red with dark fruit, firm tannin, high acidity, and volcanic-earth depth. As one of southern Italy's most important red grapes, Aglianico can produce wines of formidable structure and longevity. While the exact origin of this particular bottle is unknown, it shares in the grape’s classic zones such as Taurasi and Vulture, where it benefits from altitude, volcanic soils, and long growing seasons. Expect notes of black cherry, plum, blackberry, dried herbs, smoke, leather, earth, licorice, and sometimes iron-like mineral notes, with structure that can be imposing when young but rewarding with time in bottle. FABULAE Aglianico pairs beautifully with robust foods like lamb, beef, aged cheeses, and grilled meats.
